I am a mixed media artist and psychotherapist in private practice. I started making art in 2020 when I was laid off from my job as a school-based mental health clinician. I learned to paint by watching YouTube and taking classes from the artists I admired. I make use of hand made collage papers, acrylics and crayons in my art.
My first paintings were Buddhas, which I created as part of my spiritual practice. I sought to bring the spirit of wise, compassionate beings into the world, through my art. Since then, I have followed my heart in creating more abstract pieces.
As a psychotherapist and Buddhist, I am drawn to the psychological and spiritual dimensions of my work. The process through which I make art is an intuitive one. When I start a piece, there is generally no specific image in mind. There may be a feeling, or a certain color palette that I am drawn to. As the painting continues, I am responding to what I create and basing what I do next on what feels right, as much as on my knowledge of design and composition.
I hope you find joy and peace in my art and feel inspired to create your own.
