Laurine Fuqua was born in Santa Monica and came to Napa as a small child and has lived here ever since. She is the oldest of ten siblings. She wanted to go to Art School after graduating from high school, but the family couldn’t afford it. Laurine married and raised three children. When the children got older she started her long 26 years of State service, and in her spare time continued her painting. She has always loved all mediums of art. She is a self-taught artist and has been pursuing the arts in various mediums since she was young. She started painting in oil and then some watercolors and acrylic. Her inspiration comes from her beautiful garden and scenes around Napa and her travels. She takes photographs and prints them from her computer. She has taken numerous classes through the local community college.
Laurine has won numerous ribbons in local community events, including the Presidents award in 2007 for Naked Vine. She has won picture of the month through the Napa Valley Art Association, of which she is a member . She is also a member of American Canyon Arts Foundation, and the Valley of the Moon Art Association, and the Fairfield Visual Arts. She began focusing her creative efforts on watercolor in the year 2000, shortly before retiring. Lurine was featured in the January 2008 Market Place Magazine and currently exhibits in the Artists of the Valley Gallery. She also is active playing golf with her husband, and spending time with her three granddaughters. She lives in Napa with her husband.
