My name is Irit Weir, I was born in 1957 and raised in Tel Aviv Israel. My family and I moved to USA in the summer of 1980.
My art is in service of opening the heart and increasing the capacity to love. I seek to absorb the magic in nature and transfer it to the canvas.I live in layers. Oil paint allows me to depict these layers and, in doing so, engage in a deep exploration of truth. The canvas absorbs a range of brush movements – from gentle to forceful – and becomes a home that encompasses the experiences of the storyteller.”
My classmate in the 5th grade was my first art teacher. She would draw and paint for hours. She taught me that in order to breathe, “I must create art.”
I founded the Acupuncture Clinic of Napa in 1987 which provides holistic health care to our community. I enjoy combining art and healings as a way of life.
My partner and I are blessed to have 3 adult beautiful children and now a grandson who is a delight to be with.
