I paint whatever interests me at the moment. When a neighbor’s cat adopted me he became a character in a series of paintings. Walking and birdwatching at the American Canyon Wetlands Edge Trail has gotten me through the past couple years and this is the inspiration for the shorebird paintings. I now have a deep passion for wetlands conservation.
My work is informed by mythology, the natural world and the odd event. An early morning encounter with a woman hugging a tree, a conversation with a crow, a rare sighting of a pair of foxes at Skyline Park, a manzanita tree abuzz with bees, leaves blowing in the wind. The world is magic to me and each painting is a glimpse; everything has a story to tell.
