I am a glass mosaicist– I use glass to make framed sucatchers, outdoor friendly wall hangings and 3D garden installations, and stepping stones. Two veins of my recent work are nature inspired pieces, focusing on the California landscape and native flora and fauna, and small–some positively tiny!–indefinite pieces reminiscent of, but not direct reflections of the landscape and color combinations I encounter in nature. In this vein I make resin-cast embedded glass pendants.
I appreciate working with curved surfaces as a lens for expressing texture, depth and movement within the mosaic: I sculpt the 3D concrete and fiberglass substrates for many of my larger hanging pieces.
As a scavenger, I incorporate driftwood in several of my pieces. The driftwood, rough and worn, acts as an ideal foil for the shine and inflexibility of glass.
You can always find my art at ACCI Gallery in Berkeley. My website, snoringorangestudio.com, lists upcoming pop-up events and festivals I will be participating in across northern CA. I also sparingly showcase new work on Instagram: @SnoringOrangeStudio
