As a Napa-based oil painter, I focus on representational landscapes that reflect the quiet beauty of Northern California’s coastal hills, wooded preserves, and vineyard covered valleys. My work is rooted in direct observation and a deep appreciation for the natural world. I use layered color, expressive brushwork, and a strong sense of atmosphere to evoke not just the look of a place, but the emotional resonance it carries.
Trained in architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design and later in oil painting at the Academy of Art University and workshops taught by renowned painters, I bring a lifelong love of drawing and design to my compositions. Years spent as an architectural illustrator taught me the importance of structure and light, skills that now serve my paintings in more intuitive, painterly ways.
My style is influenced by the California Impressionists and the plein air tradition, aiming to convey both the energy and serenity of the landscape. I’m especially inspired by the colors of Northern California: the muted golds of summer grass, the rich greens of eucalyptus groves, and the hazy blues of distant hills. These hues guide my exploration of texture, mood, and the way light transforms a scene.
