Melissa Hutton currently lives and works in Napa, California with her cat, Buffy and has been an active member of the Bay Area art scene since 1992. Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she moved west to complete her BFA degree in printmaking and film at the San Francisco Art Institute. Following graduation in 1995, Hutton’s artistic career flourished with a series of Warholesque hand-painted chairs for a popular local cafe and gallery called Brainwash, giving way to numerous commissions and exhibitions. Through a mix of mediums and pop-inspired panoramas, her work explores the complexities of the American landscape.
With more than 20 years of experience in marketing and graphic design, Hutton also works as a freelance designer. Her professional achievements are numerous as they are diverse, from co-founding a gourmet coffee and confectionery company called MUD Gourmet in 1996 to designing and hand painting 55 pairs of sandals for Birkenstock in 2018.
